{"id":1,"date":"2024-01-01T08:10:42","date_gmt":"2024-01-01T01:10:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/3dsurvey.vn\/?p=1"},"modified":"2024-04-23T23:32:12","modified_gmt":"2024-04-23T16:32:12","slug":"what-is-lidar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/3dsurvey.vn\/en\/what-is-lidar\/","title":{"rendered":"What is LiDAR ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>LiDAR<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Light Detection and Ranging \u2014 is\u00a0<em><strong>a remote sensing method<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0used to examine the surface of the Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LiDAR, which stands for\u00a0<em>Light Detection and Ranging,<\/em>\u00a0is a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dainamhcm.net\/\">remote sensing<\/a>\u00a0method that uses light in the form of a pulsed laser to measure ranges (variable distances) to the Earth. These light pulses\u2014combined with other data recorded by the airborne system\u2014 generate precise, three-dimensional information about the shape of the Earth and its surface characteristics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A LiDAR instrument principally consists of a laser, a scanner, and a specialized\u00a0GPS\u00a0receiver. Airplanes and helicopters are the most commonly used platforms for acquiring LiDAR data over broad areas. Two types of LiDAR are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dainamhcm.net\/\">topographic and bathymetric<\/a>. Topographic LiDAR typically uses a near-infrared laser to map the land, while bathymetric lidar uses water-penetrating green light to also measure seafloor and riverbed elevations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LiDAR systems allow scientists and mapping professionals to examine both natural and manmade environments with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dainamhcm.net\/\">accuracy, precision<\/a>, and flexibility.
